Jew • Being a Jew means the dreamer will fail to perform the Muslim rites and, therefore, be punished by God while still alive and experience humiliation because, says Ibn Siren, those Jews who had committed an aggression by fishing on a Saturday (Sabbath day), thus transgressing the injunctions of God, were turned into apes. The story is narrated in chapter VII of the Holy Quran, titled “Al-Aaraf’ (The Heights), verses 163–67.34

Mountain If climbing means gaining a higher station, then descending in a dream means losing rank. If one sees himself climbing a mountain, though at a certain height he finds himself no longer able to climb or to descend in the dream, it means that he will die young. Narcissus (bot.) In a dream, a narcissus flower represents a woman. A garland of narcissus in a dream represents a short lived marriage. If an unmarried woman sees herself carrying a coronet of narcissus in a dream, it means a short lived marriage that will end either in divorce or in the death of her husband. Blooming narcissus in a dream represents a son. A bouquet of narcissus in a dream means the death of a son. Seeing the narcissus flower in a dream also means happiness, money, gold, or silver. Satan • Being followed by Satan: The dreamer’s enemy is after him, trying to lure him and bring him down in many ways, in view of the Quranic verse: “… So Satan followed him up, and he went astray.” (“Al-Aaraf’ [The Heights], verse 175.)

Sheep Seeing a sheep in one's dream also represents an obedient son. If one's wife is pregnant, and if he is presented with a sheep as a gift in a dream, it means that she will deliver a boy. Otherwise, the remaining little domesticated animals represent headache, because of the responsibility involved in caring for and in upbringing the boys, except for the girls, for they represent worldly success and profits. Saleh Saleh is an Arab prophet from the tribe of Thamud whose folk are named after their grandfather Thamud, brother of Jeddis. Their father was Aather ibn (son of) Aram ibn Sam ibn Nuh (Hoah). They came from Areba and lived in Al-Hijr, between Al-Hijaz and Tabuk. The Muslims Holy Prophet passed by them when he was on his way to Tabuk. Their traces can be found in Saudi Arabia in a place called Madain (the cities of) Saleh. The story of the Prophet Saleh is related in the chapter called “Al-Aaraf’ (The Heights) in the Holy Quran. Jew • Seeing Jews means: (1) Mercy from God, because the Arabic word for Jew is (singular, Ya-hudi, and plural, Yahud) is a homonym of “to repent,” “to turn unto Allah.” It also resembles hoda, which means “showing the right way.” Reference is made here to a verse in the Holy Quran: “And ordain for us in this world that which is good, and in the Hereafter (that which is good), Lo! We have turned unto Thee. He said: I smite with My punishment whom I will, and My mercy embraceth all things…” (“Al-Aaraf” [The Heights], verse 156.) (2) A complicated matter will become clear. (3) Evidence will appear. (4) The dreamer will abide more closely by the Prophet’s Tradition and Islamic Laws.
• Seeing a group of Jews means the dreamer will repent.

Paradise • Being driven or introduced to Paradise: (1) Death is near. (2) The dreamer will become wise and repent from sins at the hands of the person seen taking him to Paradise if that person can be identified.
• Being told, “Enter Paradise,” and refusing to obey: The dreamer is an apostate in view of a verse in the Holy Quran: “Lo! they who deny Our revelations and scorn them, for them the gates of Heaven will not be opened nor will they enter the Garden until the camel goeth through the needle’s eye. Thus do We requite the guilty.” (“Al-Araf [The Heights], verse 40.)

Fig Paradoxically, some interpreters hate dreams involving figs in view of other Quranic verses relating to the story of Adam and Eve wherein God says, “And We said: O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and eat ye freely [of the fruits] thereof where ye will; but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrongdoers” (“Al-Baqarah” [The Heifer], verse 35) and “And [unto man]: O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrongdoers.” (“Al-Aaraf’ [The Heights], verse 19.) Green figs in winter symbolize rain, black figs cold.

Lumber (Hypocrisy) In a dream, lumber represents a person who mixes with hypocrites, or one who mixes goodness and hypocrisy in his life, or one who appears better than he is in reality. Satan • Receiving something from Satan: Illicit gains or decaying faith.
• A meteor or falling star pursuing a demon: Sound faith.
• Satan undressing the dreamer or snatching his clothes: The dreamer will lose his kingdom, dominion, or property, in view of the Quranic verse: “O children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them …” (“Al-Aaraf’ [The Heights], verse 27.)
• Dreaming of controlling the devils who come to you and follow you: The dreamer will become a great chief and crush and humiliate his enemies in view of the Quranic verse: “And of the evil ones [shayyatin, plural of shaytan] (subdued We unto him) some who dived (for pearls) for him and did other works… “47 (“Al-Anbiyae” [The Prophets], verse 82.) Key The key symbolizes access to learning, especially the Holy Quran. It also means benefits, a safe, blessings, and support. Keys could refer as well to children, boys, messengers, money and the piercing of mysteries, or the pilgrimage to Mecca (Makkah). Other interpretations include the man and the woman, the former penetrating the latter like the key in the keyhole, the wrapped up baby, and the dead in his grave.
• Holding a key: God will respond to the dreamer’s prayers.
