Bathing in the River Bathing in the river or sea and not experiencing any fear, panic or humiliation suggest deliverance from afflictions: if the observer of the dream is grief stricken, his grief will be removed an replaced with happiness; if he is suffering from a disease or sickness, he will be cured; if he is in straitened circumstances, Allah will grant him relief; if he is afflicted with debts, Allah will have them fulfilled; if he is imprisoned, Allah will grant him freedom. Emulating the devotion of a prophet in a dream means trueness in one's faith, compliance with Allah's religion, certitude and determination. Becoming one of Allah's prophets, upon all of them be peace and blessings, in a dream means commanding good and forbidding evil, suffering from adversities and distress equal to those endured by such a prophet, then one will escape from destruction or humiliation by Allah's leave and through His subtle kindness. Ibn 'Umar's Wanting To See A Good Dream Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Men from the companions of Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) used to see dreams during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) and they used to narrate those dreams to Allah's Apostle(Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) . Allah's Apostle would interpret them as Allah wished. I was a young man and used to stay in the mosque before my wedlock. I said to myself, "If there were any good in myself, I too would see what these people see." So when I went to bed one night, I said, "O Allah! If you see any good in me, show me a good dream." So while I was in that state, there came to me (in a dream) two angels. In the hand of each of them, there was a mace of iron, and both of them were taking me to Hell, and I was between them, invoking Allah, "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from Hell." Then I saw myself being confronted by another angel holding a mace of iron in his hand. He said to me, "Do not be afraid, you will be an excellent man if you only pray more often." So they took me till they stopped me at the edge of Hell, and behold, it was built inside like a well and it had side posts like those of a well, and beside each post there was an angel carrying an iron mace. I saw therein many people hanging upside down with iron chains, and I recognized therein some men from the Quraish. Then (the angels) took me to the right side. I narrated this dream to (my sister) Hafsa and she told it to Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam). Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) said, "No doubt, 'Abdullah is a good man." Gratitude To be grateful to Allah Almighty in a dream means dispelling stress, gaining strength, wealth, blessings, prosperity or a good harvest. If someone in authority sees himself thanking Allah Almighty for His blessings in a dream, it means expansion of his authority. If he is a hypocrite, it means that he will turn sincere, and if he is a true being to his Lord, it means that he will join the company of a noble, powerful, wise and a renowned person. With their Lord they have provision: Jubilant (are they) because of that which Allah hath bestowed upon them His bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not joined them but are left behind: that there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.” (“Al-Imran” [Imran Family], verses 169–170.) Ants They also represent the person seeing the dream or members of his family or relatives. Understanding the language of ants in a dream means sovereignty, leadership and prosperity. If one sees ants entering his house and carrying food in a dream, it means prosperity in that family. If one sees ants leaving his house and carrying food with them in a dream, it means poverty. Seeing ants coming out of one's nostrils, ears, mouth or any part of his body and rejoicing at that sight in the dream means martyrdom. If one finds himself slaughtered but does not know who killed him in the dream, it means that he is an innovator, or it could mean that he will forge a testimony. Murdering one's own father or mother in a dream means disobeying them or assaulting them and becoming damned. To slaughter a woman in a dream means adultery, or eliciting sexual intercourse with her. To slaughter a fowl or the female of any bird or animal in dream means deflowering a young girl. To slaughter a son in a dream means that such a son is ruthless and unjust toward his parents. Zikr If one sees himself repeatedly calling Allah's name in a dream, it means that he will win victory over his enemy. Calling people to Allah and reminding them of His attributes in a dream represents the work of a preacher who admonishes people, helps them to the shore of safety, and distances them from their sins and their consequences. If a merchant sees himself calling upon Allah's beautiful names in a dream, it means that his business will be saved from bankruptcy. If a disbeliever, a profane or a secular person sees himself in a state of remembering Allah Almighty and calling upon His most holy attributes in a dream, it means that he may fall sick, or face great adversities, while in his heart, he will remain pleading with Allah Almighty for mercy and relief, though he may remain silent in public regarding his inner faith, and in fear of being ridiculed by his own circles. I saw Abu Qatada who also said: I used to see dreams which made me sick until I heard Allah's Messenger (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) as saying: Good dreams are from Allah, so if any one of you sees which he likes he should not disclose it to one but whom he loves, but if he sees something which he does not like he should spit on his left side thrice and seek refuge with Allah from the mischief of the Satan and its mischief (i.e. of the dream), and he should not relate it to anyone, then it would not harm him. Righteous people (Companions of Allah's Prophet, Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam; Followers; Successors) Seeing Allah's blessed people and His righteous ones, or any of the early companions of Allah's Messenger (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam), whether such a companion is known or not in a dream represents blessings in one's life and denotes one's correct following of their example, and their advice or comments in one's dream must be heeded. David If one becomes Allah's prophet David (Alayhi-Salam), or if he wears his robe in the dream it means that he will be appointed as a judge, if he qualifies. If he does not qualify, it means that he will prosper, or that he will grow in piety and become righteous through much devotion, piety, sadness and crying in fear of his Lord and love for Him. Seeing the prophet David (Alayhi-Salam) in a dream also means deputyship, trials with women, trouble caused by women, or it could mean recitation of the Quran or being in a state of constant remembrance of Allah Almighty, prayers, supererogatory prayers at night, understanding the meaning of what one reads, repentance from sin, chanting songs of Allah's love, returning to Allah's path after heedlessness, manufacturing and processing minerals, or it could represent Allah's acceptance of one's repentance.
